Yahoo is on crack. I’m annoyed.

Everyone who’s been reading me for at least 2-3 months probably remembers my little accident at FlickR. You know, the one where I couldn’t pick the country I actually live in, nor the country it split from, nor the country err…all six of these mini-countries were a part of. I thought that was a temporary glitch, so I didn’t do anything.

I tried to Google the phrase “why Yahoo doesn’t list Serbia” and even the easier variant, “Yahoo Serbia”, but the only results were ramblings about Kosovo, European union and various other Yahoo! News stories. There was no explanation why a person who’s from Serbia or Montenegro can’t select their country on any of the Yahoo network sites or any of the sites acquired by Yahoo! in near future.

I had enough of this and I contacted the support…the response I got was really, really lame and probably automatic:

Oh no! We appreciate that you contacted us for assistance, and I would love to help. However, I am unable to figure out exactly what the problem is.

In order for our MyBlogLog support team to resolve this issue, we will need to know as much of the following information as you can provide:

* Your Yahoo! ID

* The URLs for the blogs you author

* Your browser type and version number

* The text of any error messages received

* The exact steps taken that lead up to this event

Once I have all of the requested information I will investigate the error you are reporting.

ARE THEY SERIOUS?

Now I’m really glad that I don’t use Yahoo! Messenger, that I never had a Yahoo! email account or anything. Shame, shame on them.

Oh yes, PLEASE feel free to link to this particular entry, Stumble this story, submit it to Digg or whatever. I just added a plugin that does such magic. This is ignorant, ugly, stupid and it should be spreaded around, so more people would be aware of it. And of course that it matters.

    Wow. I just hate ignorance!!!
    I agree with Mira’s words, they’re a bunch of f*ckers and I can’t believe whoever owns Yahoo that they don’t know a thing or two about geography. It’s insulting and outrageous!!!
    Send them back to grade school, I say. So they know there’s a BIG world outside of the USA. Stupid rednecks.

    That’s so annoying!!! But its proven that most American’s are stupid anyway. I saw a comedy show that asked various questions to random people in the US and they didn’t know where Canada was and we’re right fucking beside them! Some guy thought, in all honesty, that we were near Sweeden. o_O

    That type of behavior is disgusting. I was watching a few videos on YouTube a few months ago, and it turns out that some people are so ignorant that they think that the US and Canada are the only countries around :|. I hate ignorance alot. I hope this problem gets fixed soon!

    man…. what is wrong with yahoo?! they haven’t listed serbia and montenegro differently yet? i guess yahoo hasn’t changed its country listings since 2006. these people are very politically aware, aren’t they? *oozing sarcasm*

    this girl left a comment on this other blog saying that singapore is part of china the other day. after i half-jokingly said that americans don’t study what’s outside of their 50 states, she and comes back arrogantly saying singapore was insignificant in global politics and that’s why they didn’t have to learn about singapore. HELLO WOMAN?!?! singapore is US’s 10th largest trade partner and is a very important trading port linking the east and the west. it’s also a superpower in the south east asian region. what the hell.

    Yeah, Yahoo! has a warped view of the rest of the world. They stopped supporting .co.nz email addresses a while back and started giving New Zealanders a .com.au address by default! What the hell?

    Thankfully they realised the stupidity of that and have now reinstated the .co.nz addresses. But we’re still left out of the loop on some of their services. I noticed recently that I can’t popmail from GMail to Yahoo! Mail because I am on a .co.nz address. It works fine with most others, but not .co.nz’s.
