Of…
…Despair.nu
Despair.nu is a nice thing. The site itself is nicely designed, powered by a script without bugs and the general idea of commenting on three random people’s blogs and having three people comment on your blog. Well, that’s how it works in theory. In reality, I commented on three people’s blogs (and one of them was an absolute angel by returning the comment, a proof that not all the people in the blogosphere are robotic…thank you, Soup!) and got just one comment…(once again, from a very cute person, so thank you, Marsha, as well!). I already got three new sites to comment on. And, well…one of them is on a hiatus, of them has an UNBELIEVABLY HUGE .png as a backgroun and I’ll have to check it from Lynne’s office, as it killed my poor 38.6 Kbps dial-up. But I commented on the third one and, once again, I liked the entry I commented on.
…the problem with I-M.net
I finally found out what was the problem with I-M.net and why the number of visitors per day suddenly dropped: Google, Yahoo and the rest of the gang need some time to get used to my new permalinks. The number is already increasing and I guess it will be back to its old glory by November or so. Yay! I love my site.
…October
Happy October:) I am looking forward to this month, because I’m rather desperate about deciding how I’ll continue at the university. I want to switch to the new system, the one the most of European universities are using and I think I do have an option for that. The “modules” the system is using sound like a nice way of keeping students’ attention…the system my STUPID university is still using is, well, crappy. My friend Mila and I are currently brainstorming about what we should do and what rules would affect us if we do switch.
Of Plugins
Perhance, does anyone have the commenter plugger and LJ-crossposter plugins? I get errors when I try to look them up from WP-Plugins and I think they could come quite handy here. But I think I will replace Gravatars2 with Alexander Bishop’s Gravatar (and userpics)…I hope it works for me, because this one doesn’t…and, well, I always trust people who write their everyday stuff in cyrillic, we’re smarter;) Мозгови!!!! Легенде!!!! ЛОЛ!

I really like Despair.nu, it is annoying when you’re supposed to comment on a site that’s no longer there or closed.
I’m really looking foward to October, for different reasons lol. The weather and season changes. Fall is beautiful.
The year is going by too quickly.

Hi Iva,
You mentioned on this site -
http://robm.me.uk/projects/plugins/wordpress/list-subpages/
… an offer to mail me your fixed List Subpages 1.5.3 WordPress plugin.
Please, that would be so helpful and fantastic! Much appreciated.
Please send to fruity AT fruityoaty DOT com
—> replace the AT with @ and DOT with .
Thank you!

If it makes you feel any better… I”m a despair commenter.
hehe, it does get annoying when others don’t comment *when you’re supposed to* but I’ve come to the point where I really don’t care. Since it’s my blog and my journal, it’s my way to vent out; I don’t blog for the visitor’s any more. If that makes any sense.
Here’s the plug-in I use for Wordpress plugging comments:

Yay for October! 2 more months tille Christmas
I hope you can figure out which university system you want to use.

I love Despair too. There are some annoyances, and I’ve been guilty of some of them, so I can’t really say much. lol. I’m glad it’s working for you though
I’m so excited about October! I usually hate this time of year (other than the upcoming holidays) but I’m really looking forward to fall and winter this year. Anyway, good luck figuring out what you’d like to do when it comes to school!
I hope you have a nice weekend! (Even though it’s still a day away lol)

Yes, Despair is pretty nice. Sometimes you get to read interesting blogs… and sometimes you’re not so lucky. You’re REALLY not lucky when you have to read a long, dull blog on a page that hurts your eyes.
Yay to October. ^_^
Do you really need a plugin for Gravatars? I just use the snippet that’s given on Gravatar.com. =T But you can use whatever floats your boat.

Ach! Iva?
… Methinks I missed an email of some sort telling everyone you’d moved (which is quite alright, seeing as I didn’t tell anyone I’d moved, either… OOPS). Wow… and this has been open since April, too… I’m thinking I’m awefully slow at finding people (actually, every month, I’ve just been going to supersonicsquirrel.net thinking that all that stuff about an IVA was a joke or something).
Anyway… once I figure out why my FTP program can no longer sign in (my hostess just switched servers…), I shall have to put up a pictoral link to you, ne?
Wow. I’m so happy I’ve found your website once again. I missed being able to read someone who actually posted (unlike myself, I’m afraid. :P).

Just out of curiosity, how does your school system work? Do you earn a certain amount of credits from a bunch of courses you can pick from, or is it completely different?
Also, do you have exams every quarter, trimester, semester, or annually?

I agree Despair is a nice thing, it gets lots of comments and visitors that I appriciate a lot.
Happy October to you too! xD!!!

I like Despair.nu. Although I am not getting all the comments I should (I think), it’s much better organised than Xposure.nu where nothing worked in the end. I got fed up and left it. But Despair is nice. This reminds me that I need to comment on the sites I got yesterday
What is the new system at University all about? Our Universities here in Germany slowly change from old Magister/Diploma/… to Bachelor/Master which I am doing since I started linguistics. I like the Modules
I have a commenter plugger, if you still need it, just drop me a short line and I will send it to you - I have to look for the files but I should have it.

True, Despair is a bit of an annoying torture machine when it comes to people commenting back on your sites, especially when you go and visit them and they have dead and buried blogs since ages. People [as in moderators] should flick through sites to have a look if they are still working or not. Anyway the basic idea of Despair isn’t bad :). I joined too hehe.
About university I know what you are talking bout *gawd* I graduated in the middle of the switch here in Italy I was like EEKK every time I took an exam it was one shot only because if I failed I had to switch to the new system?! I tell you it was like studying with a gun loaded and pointing to my forehead. lol Anyway I think the new uni system is better in many ways too.
*hugs* By the way thanks for you kind comment on my site you don’t know how much I appreciate that! I am a fan of your web-creations since forever hehe. =]
*hugs again*

Wow. Never really actually knew of Despair until now. Looks rather fascinating…
Re: the university thing? if you think the “new” system would be more appealing, I think you should definitely switch to that. I mean if it sounds more interesting it can’t be for the worse
I for one know for a fact that keeping the student’s attention would be a good thing…
Oh and Hchappy October to you too! \o/
ps. (pimping my new site, shh…

Whether tragic events touch your family personally or are brought into your home via newspapers and television, you can help children cope with the anxiety that violence, death, and disasters can cause.
Listening and talking to children about their concerns can reassure them that they will be safe. Start by encouraging them to discuss how they have been affected by what is happening around them. Even young children may have specific questions about tragedies. Children react to stress at their own developmental level.
The Caring for Every Child’s Mental Health Campaign offers these pointers for parents and other caregivers:
* Encourage children to ask questions. Listen to what they say. Provide comfort and assurance that address their specific fears. It’s okay to admit you can’t answer all of their questions.
* Talk on their level. Communicate with your children in a way they can understand. Don’t get too technical or complicated.
* Find out what frightens them. Encourage your children to talk about fears they may have. They may worry that someone will harm them at school or that someone will try to hurt you.
* Focus on the positive. Reinforce the fact that most people are kind and caring. Remind your child of the heroic actions taken by ordinary people to help victims of tragedy.
* Pay attention. Your children’s play and drawings may give you a glimpse into their questions or concerns. Ask them to tell you what is going on in the game or the picture. It’s an opportunity to clarify any misconceptions, answer questions, and give reassurance.
* Develop a plan. Establish a family emergency plan for the future, such as a meeting place where everyone should gather if something unexpected happens in your family or neighborhood. It can help you and your children feel safer.
If you are concerned about your child’s reaction to stress or trauma, call your physician or a community mental health center.
